plant with 8 monocrystalline silicon modules

Stand Alone system realized at Rifugio Bertone at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level, in Prè de La Saxe - Courmayeur (Ao). The plant consists of 8 monocrystalline silicon modules installed on the south roof pitch. The overall power is 1400 Wp. A group of 12 batteries is installed capable of delivering a nominal current of 15.7ah for 10 consecutive hours (lead-acid batteries, with high efficiency, durability of 10-15 years and good resistance to temperature changes, especially at high altitude). A 1700W SB1700 inverter and a 4.200W Sunny Island SI 4248 inverter are installed; this inverter fulfils the multiple functions required by the network, including battery charging and power supply from the generator.
The second plant built at Bertone is twin to the first, in order to fully cover the energy needs of the shelter. This configuration allows to guarantee a more than sufficient power supply to the users even in case of failure of one of the two systems. 12 modules are installed on the north/north-east rock face behind the shelter fixed on a special structure. Their inclination is almost vertical so that snow or ice can be released very quickly. The modules are monocrystalline silicon with 200 Wp of power, for a total of 2400 Wp. A 2.500W Sunny Boy 2500 inverter and a 5.000W Sunny Island bidirectional inverter are installed. In 2013, finally, a third plant is installed, on the south slope of the roof of the shelter, consisting of 10 PV modules with very high efficiency, sunpower manufacturer, of 327 Wp unit power each, for a total installed capacity of 3.27 kwp.
In 2014, to complete the path towards energy self-sufficiency, a vertical axis wind generator was installed, positioned on a pole, able to make the most of the wind present at high altitude, especially at sunrise and sunset when photovoltaic generators offer a reduced energy input. The combination of the different solutions combined with each other, allows to have a diversified generation able to cover the needs of the structure in the different hours of the day and throughout the course
